Washington Area Music Award (WAMMIE) winning musical group Scott Ramminger and the CrawStickers will play a wide mix of favorites and original songs on the House Stage of the McLean Community Center’s (MCC) McLean Day 2012: Celebrating Our Hometown festival on Saturday, May 19. The festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Lewinsville Park, 1659 Chain Bridge Road. Festival admission is free and includes all onstage entertainment.

The McLean Community Center is offering a free shuttle service to and from the McLean Day 2012: Celebrating Our Hometown festival on Saturday, May 19. The festival will be held from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at Lewinsville Park, 1659 Chain Bridge Road.
Approaching 100 Years
Union of MCC and McLean Day is the best part of its long history.
Most of the more than 10,000 people who are expected to come to McLean Day this year can only ever remember the festival being produced by the McLean Community Center (MCC). However, for years after it began in the 1900s, McLean Day was the "step-child" of many community organizations before it was officially adopted by MCC in the 1970s.

Langley Boys Lacrosse Edges Madison in Liberty Finals

The Langley High Saxons captured their fifth Liberty District tournament title in as many years last Friday, May 11 in a riveting boys lacrosse contest at Marshall High School. The Saxons defeated a tenacious Madison Warhawk side that pushed the Saxons to the brink before they were able to secure a 13-12, smash-and-grab finals win for the district title.

When she died suddenly in December 2010, in her dorm room at Princeton, her friends and classmates rallied around the family of the former James Madison High School softball and basketball standout.

The Brainy Bunch Wins Research Award
Vienna students impress judges at the World Invitational Open.
The Brainy Bunch First Lego League (FLL) team, which includes six 8th grade Kilmer Middle School students, won 2nd Place overall in the Research category at the FLL World Invitational Open hosted by the University of South Florida and Legoland on May 3-6. The Brainy Bunch earned the honor of representing Virginia and D.C. at the World Festival by winning the 1st place overall Grand Champion Award at the VA/DC State tournament in December.
McElveen Receives Young Leaders Award
Ryan McElveen, Fairfax County School Board Member At-large, was presented with the 2012 Charles Robb Young Leaders Award by Rep. Nancy Pelosi, Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, and Rep. Jim Moran as part of the Fairfax County Democratic Committee's first annual Eleanor and Franklin Roosevelt Dinner on Sunday, May 6.
